Medicare Part B Deductible Remains Unchanged in 2014

For the past three years, CMS has kept the Medicare Part B monthly premiums and the deductible requirements at the same rate.  This is good news for your patients, as they will not see an out of pocket increase in this area of their healthcare expense.

For 2014, the Part B deductible for outpatient services will remain at $147.00 per beneficiary.

If your patient asks you if they need to enroll in the new Marketplace, here is the answer from CMS:

People with Medicare don’t need to sign up for the new Health Insurance Marketplace, as they are already covered by Medicare.  The Marketplace won’t affect Medicare choices, and no matter how an individual gets Medicare, whether through Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage Plan, they still have the same benefits and security they have now.
